There comes a time in life we must travel to another area to get away from danger. The danger could come from the forces around us or could be a situation you got yourself involved in and the only way out is to flee or escape to a different place. It doesn’t mean you won’t return but at that moment and time a person has to go a different location to live.
We see this in the case of Joseph and Mary with their son Jesus. They themselves didn’t do anything wrong, for Jesus life was in danger. The parent has to protect the children from and type of evil force that comes up against their child.
Many have said this passage of scripture foretold the event that Jesus would be in Egypt for a season
When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
Hosea 11:1 KJV
In Matthew we see the story of how Joseph and Mary left for Egypt. This was an unplanned journey. An angel of God told them to get up and go danger is coming.
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. Matthew 2:13 KJV
This was right after the wise man had visited the boy Jesus. In a dream an angel of God warned Joseph the plan of Herod.
Here how Hosea 11:1 was fulfilled.
When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. Matthew 2:14-15 KJV
For a season or a period of time Jesus was in Egypt. His family has taken him out of harm way. God plan was in place. God was on the move with what he had comingf orth in the years to come. Jesus and his family was safe and they didn’t go anywhere until the God would tell them to go back. That would be after the death of Herod.
Remember I told you God has to take you out of a place and put you into another place for a season. It was only to make you to become stronger and to rely on him more. Depend on the reason or circumstances God might want you to go back and show others how He has made a difference in your life. On the other hand God might not want you to go back and press on to where you belong. Again it all about what God put on you to do we can’t second guess God.
Just as Jesus and his family had a season in Egypt. Many missed their season of blessing because they didn’t obey and moved as God would have them to do. Also many have over stayed their season welcome mat because they didn’t get out when the getting was good. God told you to leave and stayed because you had gotten too relax and comfortable in that area you was in.
Finally we have to see Christmas from a different perspective. It all about the joy and life that was given to the world that day. God gave all of us a wonderful gift that day. His son, soon to be the Messiah, soon to die on the cross for the sins of the world. In that we could have eternal life and know God in a real and personal way.
