The book of John, Jesus I am statement…

In the book of John it started off with in the beginning was the word. The word was referring to Jesus. Since we know Jesus as the Word, what else did Jesus said who he is.

All of these saying are out of the book of John. Jesus himself said more about who he is but let look at a few to get started.

We are looking at how we must enter into the kingdom of God. Since Jesus said these two things in John we have to look at them. First he said I am the way, the truth and life John 14:6. Second he said he is the good shepherd. John 10:11-14. Third he is the gate John 10:7. We going to tie all of these things together and see why Jesus is the good Shepherd, the gate, and the way, truth and life.

How are we to come to God? In whom are we saved. Who was the one that redeemed us back into God. If you answer is Jesus you are correct. Jesus have stated in many cases he is the way, the truth, the life. The way to God. God truth is in him and in him is life. In Christ we have eternal life. We also can have a life of freedom while on earth. We don’t have to be bound to those things of the world, because our life is in Christ and we have freedom to live a life worth living because of him. Our life is know hidden with Christ. We should seek those thing in which Christ seek and that was to do the will of the Father that sent him.

Second truth that Jesus said about him is he is the Good Shepherd. What is a Shepherd. A shepherd is a person who cares and watch over a flock of sheep. Why did Jesus say he is the Good Shepherd is because he care for all who come into the family of God. A good shepherd knows his flock, Jesus said this, by saying this Jesus knows all who comes to him. Even when we stray off the pathway he comes to find the one that is lost. He protects, led, and guide us all, just like a good shepherd will do for his flock. We do have shepherd out there that don’t care and they just getting by and not caring for the sheep like they suppose to. When Jesus said he is the Good Shepherd he will do all he can do to make sure all his sheep is taken well care of. Making sure nothing will cause them no harm or danger.

The third thing in the Book of John, Jesus said he is was the gate. Why the gate because those come to know God must come through Jesus. Salvation or eternal life is only given by one man whom name is Jesus Christ. No other name on earth that we can be saved by. When you come into a house that is surrounded by a fence and at the fence is a gate you must enter to gain access to the house. The only true way to get into the house is through the gate. Any other way is breaking and entering because you didn’t follow the proper procedure. So it is with getting into the kingdom of God, or being a part of God’s family. We must enter through the gate who is Jesus Christ.

The scriptures read as follows for both the gate and good shepherd.

“Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”John 10:1‭-‬5 NIV

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. John 10:11‭-‬16 NIV

From here we can say Jesus is the only mean by we can be saved. In him is the way, truth and light. He will lead, guide us in the way so that nothing will come and take us out of his hand. There are many things out there in the world that can lead us a stray, it might try to jump the gate to get us but Jesus won’t let it. We have to be reminded that those who have a pure heart and a purpose to follow and listen to the voice of God, Jesus. The voice of God and Jesus comes to us by reading and studying the Bible and also prayer, being still to listen to to voice of God as he speak.

Let’s be reminded of who Jesus says he is and understand these truths. There are many more I am to follow. to be save and come to God is through the one and only Jesus Christ his only begotten son. Jesus paid it all for us.
