Before we start looking into Abram I would like to say a few words that God revealed to me the other day. I was in a grocery store and this store as a card and if you use this card you get rewards or you get the item at the sale price. Some people don’t have the reward card and they can’t get the item on sale but the cashier has a manager card and she can over the system and give that person the items that is on sale at a cheaper rate. When I saw this it just reminded me how merciful God is. Meaning he rewards those who earnestly seek him. It might not always be money but he find a way to rewards those that earnestly seek him and obey his commands. All we have to do is receive from him and get what is due to us once we believe in his holy name.
Today with Abram is the same way, all he had to do is obey God and follow his orders and he and his family will be bless. Abram wasn’t a perfect man but he had a heart for God and a desire to do the will of God. We see this in the end Genesis chapter 11. He build an alter on the land where he was at to be reminded of what God told him.
In Genesis chapter 12 Abram trusted God he still had a concern about his wife. When famine came to the land Abram had to travel to Egypt. On their way to Egypt, him and his wife came up with a plan to make sure they survived in the land. Yes Abram lied and con the Pharaoh. He was afraid that Pharaoh would go after his wife, so he said his wife was his sister. After Pharaoh called for Abram wife Sarai, and she when into his house. God sent a plague upon Pharaoh and his house hold. What ever the plan might have been to have Abram and his family to stay in Egypt back fired on him and therefore he told Abram and his family to leave the country.
We may not understand why all of this took place but on thing we do know God was with them in the midst of it all. God already promised Abram he will be the father of many nation then why would he not accept the fact he would not come out of Egypt alive. When God is on our side and we about to walk through something just know he will bring us out. We don’t have to do anything put pray and ask God for guidance to see our way out of it.
The blessing or reward of all of this is, God worked it out, because he told Abram those who cursed you will be curse. What is a curse Pharaoh desire Abram wife Sarai but before any thing could happen God step in and cursed the entire household of Pharaoh with a plague. We might not know what would have happen in a different situation but one thing was Abram and his family was sent out of the land and no hurt harm or danger came upon them.
Finally stop trying to figure it out on your own. When God said a promise is coming, then believe and take him at his word. Many times we want to do it our own way and not let God work it out for us. Once we do that we get off track and then God have to fix the mess we got our self in. Just know if you have a promise from God wait on it, pray about it, seek God, and most of all continue to live by faith that it shall come to pass. 24 years for the name change and the promise that God gave Abram continued beyond that. Abram did become the father of many nations and also his name was made great.
Continue on and be truthful to yourself, to others and to God because that way you can live and have a wonderful life.
