We are under the word invest. With this word we are looking at the return on your investment. Earlier in a post mentioned that put invest in things to get something out of it. We all invest in something or the other within our lifetime. We invest in our jobs, school, other people, house, or cars. Nothing wrong with it but don’t let that investments be your down fall. People invest in the above items, but those things ended up costing them more and more until they lost what they invested in. Just like people invest in the stocks, but yet some gain while others loses. The true investment we make is investing in God. God will reward those whom invest in him. To see this we are going to look at the life of ABRAHAM. The journey will be a few days, so let’s get started.
We see this man in Genesis chapter 11 his name is called Abram.
And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldeans, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. Genesis 11:31 KJV
This will be study on a man who was called Abram but because he belief in God, God changed his name from Abram to Abraham. We will be looking in his life over a 24 years period and see how he went from Abram to Abraham.
Remember we are looking at the return on investment. God told Abram to leave the town he was in and go to another land. Genesis Chapter 12.
Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. Genesis 12:1-5 KJV
Many things we see here in this passage of scriptures. God investing into Abram life and Abram investing in what God is telling him. The return on doing what God said here to Abram is. Abram will become a great nation. Years to come you may not see it but because you are doing what God wants you to do Abram your will be a father, a for-runner of a great nation. Not only that his name will be great, and those who blessed him will be blessed, yet those whom curse him will be cursed.
Final thoughts, over the course of 24 years many things happen in the life of Abram, yet he didn’t forget the promise that was said at the age of 75. He did have doubts at time, but he still invested in God. He never gave up, or gave in to the evilness of the world around him. He may have under mind God and did things the way he wanted to do. In all he held on to the truth and the truth was one day his name will be great and he will be the father of many nations.
Hold on to God invest in him. Keep the promise God has given you. As you continue to invest in the things of God you will receive a return on your investment in many areas of your life.
