Do you know the story of Job? Well lets start from the ending and then work our way back to the beginning and see how Job was given back more than he started with.
12 The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. 13 And he also had seven sons and three daughters. 16 After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. 17 And so Job died, an old man and full of years. JOB 42:12-13;16-17
What was job investment and why did he get back more than he started from. To see this we have to look at the being of Job and to see what is taking place.
In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. 2 He had seven sons and three daughters, 3 and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East. JOB 1:1-3
Who is Job and what type of person is he. Job was a man who was blameless, upright, he feared God. Meaning he show reverence in the name of God. Most of all he shunned evil. When things was against him and he knew it went against the things of God he would flee from evil and do not fall into the temptation.
What happen do Job next. Here is where the plot thickens
6 One day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them. 7 The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job?There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”9 “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. 10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. 11 But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”12 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. JOB 1:6-12
What is going on here? We are seeing what Job is really made of starting at this point. Satan was looking for someone to get to. He was looking for somebody to go against God but yet he couldn’t find anyone. Therefore God said have to tried my servant Job. Satan reply was how can I get to him if you have this hedge of protection around him. God let down the hedge of protection and the one thing Satan couldn’t do was to kill Job.
As you read the story of Job he start losing things within his life. In Job chapter 1:14-19 where Job lost everything he had from his animals, servant and his sons and daughter. Yet in all of this he sinned not or did he charged God foolishly. In matter of fact it the scripture says he worshiped God, when he fell down to the ground.
Later in the Book of Job his wife died, but she told Job just curse God and die, but Job couldn’t do this because of the strong faith he still had in God. Even his friend was saying it must have been somethings that he did, that is why he was going through these things. He set with his friend for a while.
At the end of it all, Job proved two things, his loved for God, and also proved that now matter what happened he will not go back on what he believed in. Job invested in God for a long time, even in the midst of tragedy he never gave up his investment. He never cashed in and say i give up i can’t make it anymore. He didn’t say since I lost everything I might as way die. He held on to his faith, he held on to God, he held on to what he believed in.
ROMANS 8:37-39 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This could have been a saying of Job because he had invested in God all of his life. Because of how Job handle himself in it all he had a return of the investment. He was blessed by God by getting double for the trouble he went through.
As we look into the word of God and understand all he has for us we must take time and invest in God. Take time out and have the moment with God by doing those things he has for us to do. Invest in him, live for him and obey in. As we do this the return that he will give use will be greater than anything we could imagine. Whether the return on the investment would be while we are living in this present age or in the age to come in heaven with him just be looking for the return on the investment when you least expect it.
God bless everyone and remember as we invest in the things of God we will get the return of the investment but whatever the return is just praise God for the outcome.
