Today teaching is about the return on your investment. Are you looking for a return on an investment? Let’s look into the word invest and see what it means.
According to the Webster dictionary invest has lots of meaning. For starter the first meaning is to put money into something hoping to get a return back. The second meaning, and we will be looking at it closely, is to use, give, or devote (time, talent, etc.), as for a purpose or to achieve something
Most people invest in stocks and bonds looking to get back some profit or interest they invested in. Sports team they invest in players so the player can help the team to win and succeed. Once they do have good success then those around the team from it’s owner to the coaches will have a return on their investments.
When we follow God we should look at what the scriptures says about serving God and giving our time and devotion to him. Once we do we will receive the return on what we are doing for God.
The main theme or scripture is what JESUS said according to Luke.
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38 NIV
When we look at this the first word is give. Give could mean a lot of things but today we not necessary talking about money, but you time and devotion to God, and the things that Jesus want us to do.
The main thing about the great commission that is found in MATTHEW 28:18-20 is this we who have accepted Christ as our Savior and Lord have a job to do. Therefore we must invest our time, talent, and energy to make disciples for Christ. Train other so they can become stronger in their faith. Truly as we invest our time for God, by helping others and doing things he has for us we will have a return on the investment.
We don’t know what the return will be. It could be an financial, spiritual, physical, or any other type of blessing God could pour our way. Just think if we put our all, meaning all of our heart, mind, and soul into God then how it will come back to us. Come back to us, to the point it will be running over in great measure that we couldn’t handle it the return on the investment.
Going back to the sports, all who are involved knows if the player continue to play and exercise by giving it his all then one day both the player and all around him will receive something. That will be the return of their investment.
What you put into investing into things is how your reward will be. Top dollars are paid for sport players because the owners know what they are about to invest in. Once they see the quality within that player they try their best to get him.
What quality do you have that God sees in you so that His kingdom can be established. So other can know of his amazing love and grace. God sees more in us than we think. Two thing we can see about investing. First God invest in us to carry his message to the world. Second we invest in God because what He did for us through His love. That was he gave his only Son for us, for the world. Jesus came and died for us all. That is the true investment God has given the world. To capitalize on this is knowing we have eternal life in Jesus. Which is the reward of believing on God and Christ Jesus. The true investment.
